Your Questions, Answered

Healing is a journey that often begins with seeking clarity. I provide a trauma-informed, relationally focused space where your safety and understanding are prioritized. Below, find answers designed to help you feel supported and informed as you consider taking this next step toward growth and happiness.

What is therapy like?

Therapy is a collaborative process where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, judgment-free space. We focus on building a secure relational foundation to help you process past wounds and identify current patterns that may no longer serve you. The therapeutic experience depends on the treatment model we use, and the styles you respond best to. Usually therapy with me includes some laughing, emotional processing, psychoeducation and tools, and in-session therapeutic interventions. My communication style is a mix of calm, down to earth, and clinical.

What does 'trauma-informed' mean?

It means realizing how widespread trauma is, recognizing the signs, and responding with a focus on psychological and physical safety. It also means understanding people within their individualized contexts - we are not born traumatized. In our work, your agency and choice are always prioritized.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is an intake assessment. We'll talk about what brings you in, mental health symptoms, your history, and your goals. You can ask questions, and we'll discuss your treatment plan. There's no pressure to share everything at once.

How can I access online therapy? Can you see me anywhere?

You can join from a private, quiet space using a phone, tablet, or computer. I cannot see clients located outside of WA state, because at this time I only have WA state licensure.

General Questions

How long does the healing journey take?

Healing is a deeply individual experience. Some people finding clarity in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We work together to set goals and pace the work in a way that feels empowering and sustainable for you. For a more specific estimate, the time in treatment depends on the treatment goals.

Is Telehealth as effective as in-person?

Yes, research shows that Telehealth can be just as effective as in-person sessions for most therapeutic needs, including EMDR. It offers the added comfort of being in your own safe environment, which can deeply support the healing process.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes, once a week to start. I offer both weekly and bi-weekly appointments to maintain consistency, as it is key to effective therapy. We can adjust frequency over time based on your needs and progress.
